The Memory Righter is a work of fiction written only for the screen. After many consultations from professionals, it has been determined that the full screenplay will no longer be available to anyone who wishes to read it. If you have a specific need to read it, please forward an email to: info@thememoryrighter.com and arrangements will be made to accommodate you.
The Memory Righter Dominic is a single dad, ex navy seal, African American who has become a computer technician. In his struggles to raise his adopted Native American son, he builds a computer that can record his own memories, then implant those memories into his son's mind.
The 24 year old son uses the
machine to win the lottery and otherwise find ways to cheat
himself to a better life. In the process, he falls in love
with one of his dad's old girlfriends.
The US military is trying to get
the computer via Travis, who was Dominic's best friend while
on active duty.
And the villain (Nasir, a
terrorist) wants the computer and revenge against Dominic
who thwarted a terrorist plot during his active duty days.
The complexity of the story is
in the telling. It uses dreams and "time travel" to build
the characters and tell the story. The time travel comes
from the memories that are recorded in the computer.
I call it the Memory Righter,
(as opposed to writer) because, as a twist, Dominic becomes
engaged in 'fixing' the things of the past that his son
changes about history.
