The SteLuTec Foundation was created for the purpose of helping children get better faster. The “human touch” is what we are all about. We understand that your baby will heal quicker if that child can experience the physical connectedness of being held by his or her parents. We also understand that taking time off work to spend with your child can be expensive. Our goal is to make your quality time more affordable, so your child’s hospital time can be shorter. We want to help you stay away from work, so you can get back to work

No one hopes for a sick child. No one wants a sick child. But sick children are sometimes a part of our lives.  The SteLuTec Foundation is about healthy babies; and bringing parents to their babies is our little way to promote healthy babies.

The SteLuTec Foundation began when Tecla, the daughter of the founders, was required to spend her third and fourth days of life in the neonatal intensive care unit at Children’s Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota. During her stay, her mother was allowed to spend all her time in the room with Tecla, but nearly thirty other newborn babies were also in the unit, and no other parents were to be found.

Volunteers were moving from room to room, holding little babies for an hour and moving on to the next room; to hold the next baby, even though these volunteers did not know the baby or the parents. When they were asked why there were no parents there, the nurses on staff said they couldn’t afford to take the time off work. Some of these babies had to stay for six months. Some of these babies come from hundreds of miles away.

The SteLuTec Foundation was started as a way to help more parents spend more time with their own babies during the unfortunate time they have to stay in intensive care.

The SteLuTec Foundation’s first order of business is to pay the salary of parents who need to take a leave of absence from work in order to be with their children.

The SteLuTec Foundation started, and continues to raise money through a variety of projects that are non invasive to the general public.  We get involved with projects we believe will help us raise money without soliciting from the public and without acting contrary to our mission. In the past, we have held raffles, created golfing tournaments, offered clothing for sale, and participated in publications or recordings that help us generate money we need to  do those things that we do.

Currently, you can read up on the Rags To Riches Project, which is a non fiction book. The first five chapters are available without charge by clicking the links for whichever chapter you like on the Introduction page.  You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view these files.

Help when you need it.

If your child is in intensive care, call us. If you qualify for our benefits, we will be sure that you get the benefits you need, without burying you in paperwork. Our goal is to help, not make things more difficult
